MCLA is excited to welcome Kaela Allen as our new Executive Director!!
Kaela works for the State of Indiana as a program manager for Indiana 211 where she assists with developing and implementing programs within the state to help those with substance use and mental health needs. Kaela earned her Bachelor's degree from Anderson University in Psychology and Family Science and her Master's Degree from Governor's State University in Health Sciences and Addiction Studies. Kaela's professional experience working with individuals to set and work towards healthy, long-term goals will serve her well as she equips our community's next leaders with skills needed to thrive in both business and nonprofit work.
Kaela is from a small farm-town in Illinois and has a deeply rooted love for small towns and a sense of community. In her spare time, she enjoys reading, trying new recipes she finds on Pinterest, and spending time with her friends and her son.
Rachel is a 2018 graduate of the Signature Program. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Organizational Leadership and Supervision and a Master of Science in Management and Leadership. She serves on the board of the Animal Welfare League and works as a Business Consultant for a technology company. Rachel lives in Ladoga, where she and her husband Blake and daughter Evelyn enjoy restoring their 19th century home.
Darren Heeke is a 2019 graduate of the Signature Program and currently works for the Indiana Department of Transportation.
Darren grew up in Spearville, Kansas. He then moved to Montgomery County where he studied Diesel Mechanics at Ivy Tech Community College.
In his free time, Darren enjoys a variety of sports.
Summer is a 2020 graduate of the Signature Program. She was born and raised here in Montgomery County and graduated high school from North Montgomery. Summer attended Purdue University and received her B.S. in Health Sciences and began her career as a Medical Technologist in the hospital laboratory.
Eventually, Summer went back to school and earned her Master’s in Public Health. Currently, she works for a nonprofit contract research organization (CRO) that specializes in oncology clinical trials as a database developer.
Summer and her husband, Brock, have been married for 22 years. They have three children: Twins, Kaden and Chloe, 17 and Kiefer, 14.
Kelly is a 2019 graduate of the Signature Program.
Kelly is the Recreation and Fitness Director at the Crawfordsville Parks and Recreation Department. She started with the Parks Department in 2005 and took a break in 2010 to be a stay at home mom for a few years. Kelly found her way back in 2014 and has been employed and loving it ever since. Her position includes overseeing a running the following programs; CYB Baseball, Cville 500, Fast Pitch Softball, Gymnastics, Group Fitness Classes, Indoor Ironman, Pie Run, Slow Pitch Softball, Weight room and day to day business at the Community Center. She is a graduate of Purdue University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Family Studies. She is married to Greg price, a local business owner; they reside in Crawfordsville with their 2 kids and 3 dogs.
Monica Nagele is a Registered Dietitian who works for Purdue Extension Montgomery County. Monica was raised on a swine and beef farm in Lebanon Indiana. She received her Bachelor’s Degree from Purdue University in Nutrition, Fitness and Health and Dietetics and her Masters from the University of Central Oklahoma in Food and Nutrition Management. Her passion for the farm and nutrition is what led her to a career in extension, where she connects the food raised on the farm to the nutritional needs of consumers. Monica started her career with Oklahoma State Extension before meeting her husband Adam and moving back to Indiana to continue her career with Purdue Extension.
Monica has a lot of experience working with non-profits in Montgomery County, as success in her position requires the corporation and partnerships of many like minded organizations.
Michelle was born and raised here in Montgomery County, graduating from Crawfordsville in 1991. She received her B.S. in Political Science from Ball State University and began her career working with the Promotional Materials Department for Eli Lilly.
Michelle, soon after graduation, started to specialize in being part of the start-up team for various new organizations who were expanding in Central Indiana. This has really set a solid foundation of leadership with training new staff over the years. She currently is the CEO/Executive Director for Abilities Services, Inc.
Michelle and her husband, Scott, have been married for 27 years. They have two children: Connor 25 (wife Allison) and Corbin 19. They live in Crawfordsville with their 3 dogs Pepper, Wrigley, and Tucker
Jeremy is a graduate of the 2020 Montgomery County Leadership Academy’s signature program. He grew up in Long Beach, CA and moved to Crawfordsville, IN in Spring of 2015. Jeremy Currently works in Human Resources at Penguin Random House where he’s been able to facilitate classes such as “PRINT” (a workshop that helps gain insights and learn strategies to help increase ones best self) and “Unconscious Bias Training” for PRH’s Diversity Equality and Inclusion initiative.
In his spare time, he enjoys lifting weights, catching a baseball game at victory field when in season and reading anything and everything on personal development.
Tara was a 2011 graduate of the Signature Program. She was raised in Montgomery County and graduated from South Montgomery in 1990. She went on to attend Indiana Business College and graduated with a Travel Management Degree. Tara worked for AAA Travel for 10 years and decided to change career paths into banking. She has been in banking for the past 19 years with her newest role being Manager at Tri-County Bank and Trust Downtown Office.
Tara has been married to her Husband Kevin for 25 years and they have 2 Children ( Cameron 21 and Caden 13). They reside in Crawfordsville.
